Alexander Irvine Cox
Alex Irvine Cox is an award-winning filmmaker who has directed films across broadcast television and theatrical release. After graduating from Newport Film School in 2004 he began working for the BBC as a researcher before moving into Directing.
For broadcast television he has produced and directed a broad range of productions across the spectrum from observational films to retrospective drama docs for ITV, BBC and Channel 4.
In 2022 he was nominated for the Tim Hetherington Prize at the Sheffield Docfest for his first feature film Beneath the Surface, Produced by BBC Storyville.
More recently Alex has directed both series of Missing Dead or Alive for the streaming giant Netflix which enjoyed a solid run in the global top 10 on the platform. He is best known for his approach combining both creative and technical aspects of filmmaking to create a more cinematic feel for his films.
